Can I make changes to my application after submitting?

A

The simple answer is yes! You can make changes to your application after submission as long as the school's deadline has not passed.

Adding or removing dependents and schools in your application

It's easy to update your students, other dependents, and the schools selected to receive your application.

Switching dependents between students and non-student dependents

In order to change the state of a dependent, you can remove them from the application and add them back in as needed. For more information, see the "Adding or removing dependents" section above.

Changing an application grade

Note: In some cases, a school may have already reviewed your application before you make this change — if that happens, you'll see an alert when you try to re-submit. If you're not sure how to proceed at that point, just reach out to our support team and we'll help you sort it out.

  1. Login to Clarity and click the purple "edit application" or "continue application" button

  2. Return back to Step 1 Student Applicants

  3. Navigate to the Current Schools section on the page

  4. Make sure that the current school and grade are accurate

  5. Navigate to the Select Schools section on the page

  6. Remove the school for which a grade change is needed by clicking the x next to the school name

  7. Click the Add a School button and follow the prompts to add another school, making sure that the application grade is correct

  8. Click Save and continue

  9. Return back to Step 4 and re-submit for the newly added school(s) to receive your updated application. If you previously paid the fee, you will not be asked to pay again.

Updating your address

If you've moved, or need to correct your address, you can update it directly on your application — there's no need to change anything with the IRS first.

  1. Log in to Clarity and click the purple "Edit Application" or "Continue Application" button

  2. Return to Step 1: Address

  3. Update your address

  4. Click Save and continue

  5. Return to Step 4 and re-submit so your school(s) receive your updated application. If you previously paid the fee, you will not be asked to pay again.

Note: this is different from making sure your address matches your most recent tax return for income verification purposes — see "Addressing the living situation" if that's what you're trying to sort out instead.

Important: Submitting an additional application does not overwrite your original submission. The original application will retain its original submission date, and only the new application will reflect the updated submission date.
