I received an email that Clarity wasn't able to verify my tax information with the IRS. What do I do?

If you received an email from Clarity letting you know we were unable to verify your tax documents with the IRS, there are many possible reasons why this could have occurred but the IRS does not share a specific reason with us.

You may receive a mailed letter at the address you provided from the IRS with more details about why they were unable to verify your tax information. The letter that you receive from the IRS will ask you to submit a form to update your information. This form does not allow Clarity to resubmit your tax verification to the IRS.


You'll want to make sure to manually upload any of the requested tax documents to your application. These should show in the Documents area of your account and will either be for your W2 and/or full 1040 federal tax return (examples below).

Make sure to include all schedules, specifically Schedule 1, Schedule 2 and Schedules C and/or E if applicable.
