How do I know if I have “Other Taxable Income?”

You can find any other taxable income on page 1 of your schedule 1 from your Form 1040 federal tax return. If you do not receive a schedule 1, then you do not have any additional taxable income outside what is on your IRS 1040.

How do I know if I have non-taxable income?

Non-taxable income is any cashflow that you may have earned or were given that you did not have to claim and/or pay taxes to the IRS on. Most common examples are:

  • Child Support

  • Some Social Security benefits

  • Pre-tax to retirement (W2 box 12 codes D, E, S)

  • Pre-tax HAS/FSA/Dependent Care Benefits (W2 box 12 code W or W2 box 10)

  • Gift Money (under $18,000 in 2024)
